Rachel Franco is a Staff Consultant for MAYA. Prior to consulting, Rachel served as a classroom reading teacher, specializing in both elementary and secondary literacy curriculum and instruction. Rachel began teaching in 2013 as a part of Teach for America in Detroit, Michigan.
Born and raised in South Austin, Rachel is a a third-generation Mexican-American and first-generation college-grad. At MAYA, Rachel’s work concerns Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Social Justice (DEISJ) and optimistically researching, writing, and building strategic plans in the education sector to produce meaningful outcomes.
Favorite Part of Austin: Reading a new book from Book People on the hillside of Barton Springs. Afterward grabbing a jalapeño cheeseburger and milkshake down the road at Sandy's.
